MG Enhanced Double Zeta Gundam Ver.Ka Build #1 Tentative assembly

ENGLISH

Hello, I’m Duck, the administrator.
I’ve been slacking off a bit since I finished MG Jesta at the beginning of October. Or rather, I’ve been working loosely on the temporary assembly of the Double Zeta, doing it lazily and not doing it at all. It’s been about a month since I opened the Double Zeta, but I finally got to the point where I could write an article about it, so I’m restarting the blog.

unsealed letter

I was quite prepared to open the package.
As I expected, the number of runners is amazing. It is a kit that takes quite a lot of time just to assemble because it is an MS that incorporates the elements of transformation and combination, which increase the number of parts and make the construction more complex.

(printed) instructions

The latest kits have the runners you need for each part put together, but this ZZ and the Nu Gundam Heavy Arms I made a while ago don’t have all the runners you need, so you have to look for runners every time. It’s quite hard…
This time, I extracted the necessary runners for each part. Please make use of it!

labeling

It may seem like a hassle, but labelling the runners makes it even easier to work with them. Especially with large kits such as the MG series, the number of runners increases and it becomes easier to find them, so you can work more smoothly. Recently, I always use masking tape to label each runner after opening the package.

reassembling

Start of assembly.
It takes about 11 days from the opening of the package because it takes a lot of time due to the complexity of the construction and the many parts, and it loses its will to fight, although there is also the gate processing and the cutting of the tabo together. I’ve been slacking somewhat…

I will remember to take care of the hickeys, but there are so many parts that I am sure I will miss something.

part-by-part assembly

core fighter

Required runners: A/D/F1/F2

If you follow the instructions, the first step is to create the core fighter. Of course, there is some gimmickry as it also transforms.

chest

Required runners:A/B/D/F1/G2/H/J1

Next is the chest.
This one is also deformable and has some gimmicks.

head

Required runners:A/B/F1/G1/G2/PC

The head has an antenna that moves up and down, but is otherwise very simply constructed.

arm

Required runners:A/B/C/E/F1/F2/G2/PC

The arms are somewhat gimmicky, the hands rotate and the vernier comes out.

leg

Required runners: a/d/e/f1/f2/g1/g2/k1/k2

The most time-consuming part of the temporary assembly process was making it without knowing exactly what would happen during assembly, as the deformation gimmicks were concentrated from the knees down.

waist

Required runners:A/B/D/F1/G1/G2/J1/K1/PC

The waist is also uniquely constructed, with the backpack support coming out of the waist. Of course, it has a deformation gimmick, so it is a movable structure.

backpack

Required runners:B/C/F1/F2/I/J1/J2/K1/K2

The backpack is a bit large but simple in construction, except for the attachment to the arm from the waist. I quite like the part where the top opens to reveal the missile pot.

double beam rifle

Required runners: A/B/C/G2/H.

The only accessory It is somewhat gimmicky as it is the nose of the aircraft when it is transformed.

Tools used during assembly

Always standard nippers, stick file and glue.
The MG basically has no joint eraser, so it can be temporarily assembled by snap-fit without using glue.

completion

Assembly is complete.
It took about 10 days to assemble it, slacking off quite slowly. If I do it properly, I think it will be finished a bit quicker.
The gate processing, etc., is being carried out together, but there seems to be some gaps, so I’ll be checking as I go along.

deformation

I tried to transform it; it wasn’t as hard as transforming Z Gundam into Wave Rider, but I had a hard time getting it into this shape. I don’t want to do it too much.

Future work development

I feel quite strongly that it has an anime feel, or a righteous side, or something like that. Ideally, I would like it to have the atmosphere of a weapon taking part in a war and playing an active role.

I am also planning to do some detailing. This time I will also do some sujibori.

The paintwork is tricolour and has a fairly strong heroic feel, so I would like to reduce the number of colours, shift to pale yellow and use a raised paintwork, but I don’t like the image to change too much either.

Weatherization should be somewhat used to give a stronger sense of weaponry.

So the temporary assembly work is completed.
The ZZ is a complex construction with a fairly large number of parts and a deformation mechanism, but if it is all disassembled, assembly after painting is likely to be difficult, so I will work on it block by block, using the combination mechanism. However, I am prepared to take a lot of time. I will try to keep motivated so that I don’t give up in the middle of the project.
Thank you very much for reading to the end.
