Hello, I’m Duck, the caretaker.
This time it’s finally time to paint, smear and decal the main body.
I used the deep red used in the weapon painting, and the exterior white is also partially accented with a lighter grey.
Please take a look at how we are struggling with the painting of the complex shaped frame parts.
Red Surfacer Mabogany → Mr Colour C81 Azuki Colour (Red No. 2)
White Surfacer Gray 1200 → Mr.Colour GX GX1 Cool White
White (accent) Surfacer Grey 1200 → Mr. Colour Gull Grey
Grey Surfacer Grey 1200 → Mr Colour C37 RLM75 Grey violet
Surfacer Black → Mr. Metallic Colour GX209 GX Red Gold
This time the painting method is gradient painting. Basically, the painting is done by airbrush. White exterior parts are easy to paint with gradation, but the frame parts based on red have a complex shape with many threads, so it was quite difficult.
Some of the white parts were painted in gull grey as an accent.
The red parts of the frame were also accented with Gundam red, but it became almost unrecognisable.
The gold paint on the internal mechanisms visible from the backside of the shoulders has created a nice atmosphere. Gold is also used for holder parts such as the sword.
For the line painting, Tamiya’s line paint grey is used this time.
This paint settles quickly and does not take colour, so I use it with frequent shaking.
This was done by putting the paint in and allowing it to dry overnight before wiping it off.
The decals were diverted from what I had in stock as there were not many included.
The iconic markings on the shoulders are made from the included dry decals.
Tactical Arms uses the included metallic marking stickers. It creates a nice atmosphere when used as a single point.
Painting, line painting and decals have been completed.
I have the impression that the red gradient painting was difficult. I think I was able to work on the white and grey paint without any problems.
The gold seems to be just right to use as one point.
I was able to work on the smudging and decals without any particular problems. After the work is finished, I coat the decals with matte clear overall to protect them.
Next is weathering. I will go on doing chipping and shadow blowing.
Thank you for seeing to the end.
